La Ofrenda: The Days of the Dead
1988. Directed by Lourdes Portillo, Susan Muñoz. This personal look at the Mexican celebration of los Dias de los Muertos traces the tradition from its roots in Indian culture to its manifestation in contemporary Chicano communities. The film conveys the loving and sometimes humorous Mexican cultural attitude toward “that constant companion,” death. In Spanish; English subtitles. 50 min.
