We have four interdisciplinary teams that are set to start at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center as architects-in-residence for Rising Currents one week from today. They will each have a designated workshop space but they will also be in open dialogue with each other as they work. You’re invited to see their work-in-progress at a special open house they will host on Saturday, December 12, at P.S.1. I’d like to briefly introduce each of the team leaders and their team members, and describe which sites each team will be working on.

Paul Lewis, Marc Tsurumaki, and David J. Lewis of LTL Architects co-lead the team that works on Zone 1, which encompasses the Northwest Palisade Bay/Hudson River area in NJ area, including Liberty Park, Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, and the surrounding waters. Their team members include Aaron Forrest, Megan Griscom, Perla Dis Kristinsdottir, and Yasmin Vobis.

Matthew Baird of Matthew Baird Architects leads the team that works on Zone 2, which encompasses the Southwest Palisade Bay/Kill van Kull area, including Bayonne, NJ, Bayonne Piers, northern Staten Island, and the surrounding waters. His team members include Kira Appelhans, Kristen Becker, Nim Lee, and Ajay Manthripragada.

Eric Bunge and Mimi Hoang of nARCHITECTS co-lead the team that works on Zone 3, which encompasses the South Palisade Bay/Verrazano Narrows area, including eastern Staten Island, Bay Ridge, and Sunset Park and the surrounding waters. Their team members include Seung Teak Lee, Noah Z. Levy, Meir Lobaton Corona, and Sanjukta Sen.

Kate Orff of SCAPE Studio leads the team that works on Zone 4, which encompasses the Northeast Palisade Bay/Buttermilk Channel and the Gowanus Canal area, including Governors Island, Red Hook, and the surrounding waters. Her team members include Ben Abelman, Steven Garcia, Angela Chen-Mai Soong, and Gena Wirth.
